Move Central Inc BBB Business Review

Are you moving in San Diego or from San Diego? Our San Diego moving company, Move Central, Inc. wants to help you make your move as easy and frustration-free as possible. Today we want to share one of our best tips for having a pain-free move: how to survive your first night in a new home.

After a long day (or more) of moving, you are going to want a few familiar creature comforts to help you settle in to your new home. That is why we suggest creating your own Necessity Box full of the things you will need to enjoy the first night in your new home.

First, grab a good sized box (or two depending on your family size) and label it with the words, Necessities, Pack Last. This way, you won’t have to search through a sea of moving boxes for your much needed toilet paper. Place this box in an undisturbed corner where you can easily assemble it, and once it is filled, leave it unsealed until you are ready to leave, just in case you need something inside the box before the move.

Movers Tip: Remember to seal your necessity box last and pack it on the truck last or put it in your vehicle where it can be easily accessed.

Necessity Box Checklist:

Cleaning supplies & tools

You may want to freshen up your new home before moving in, so you will want to pack some basic cleaning supplies and tools including paper towels, a variety of household cleaners, dish liquid, rubber gloves, and trash can liners, as well as a drill, hammer, and various hardware that you may need to hang pictures or do minor repair work.

We also suggest packing a few light bulbs and a couple of flashlights, just in case.

A Few Simple Meals

We suggest taking along some easy to prepare, easy to transport foods for your first night and morning. Pack things like nuts, peanut butter, bread, crackers, fruit, canned tuna, protein bars, or anything else that does not require refrigeration or cooking. Don’t forget to also bring water or other easy-to-pack drinks.

We also suggest disposable dinnerware (cups, plates, utensils, napkins) for easy cleanup.

Toiletries

After a tiring day of moving, you will most likely want to take a warm shower and brush your teeth. Make sure to pack the most obvious things: soap, shampoo, toothpaste, and toilet paper. But don’t forget other things like towels and possibly a hair dryer and shower curtain.

First aid

Hopefully you won’t need your first aid kit, but it is always best to be prepared for anything. If you don’t have an actual “kit” you can fill a small bag with bandages, rubbing alcohol, any daily medications you take and various pain relief products.

Bedding

Finally, you will want a nice comfortable place to lay your head that first night, so pack clean sheets, blankets, and pillows, so you can crash in comfort.

Once you have everything packed, make sure to put your necessity box on the truck last, grab it as soon as you arrive at your new home, and put it in an out of the way place that you can easily access.

Now you know the first step for having a great move! Our San Diego full service moving company, Move Central, Inc., hopes this tip was useful. We are always here to make your move easier any way we can.
